Dr. J. Kemp
B.ED., B.A., M.ED., DIP.ED.PSYCH., DIP.SP.ED., DIP.A (LSTD)., ED.D.J.P

Father of four, Jeff is a highly successful educator with over 30 years experience as a primary teacher, a secondary teacher, a university lecturer, a presenter at National and State conferences and a specialist guidance counsellor of children and teenagers, in particular troubled teenagers.

Concerned with the reality that many troubled teenagers who leave school early never achieve their full potential Jeff commenced an early intervention program for troubled 'at risk' teenagers known as 'Asteros'. The 'Asteros' program ('Asteros' is an ancient Greek word meaning bright star) extends for 12 months and involves a wilderness adventure experience, intensive in school student support, parent training and ongoing support from a a volunteer mentor (life coach).

This highly successful unique program was awarded a recognition bursary from Griffith University which enabled Jeff to visit and study the very best programs for troubled teenagers in the U.S.A. Jeff has since incorporated the research findings into his current practice. For 15 years Jeff has been president of a community Sports Club and co-founded an annual international youth football tournament which has grown in 12 years to be the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Jeff's work has also been recognised in State and Commonwealth Government awards for his outstanding contribution to youth in the community.

Jeff's extensive experience and practice in working with teenagers, in particular troubled teenagers is now available in resources for parents including the highly acclaimed Be A Parent Not A Pal, a range of programs and audio CD's including The Parenting a Teenagers Program, The Parenting a Child Program, The Homework Helper Program and The Ready for School Program. Jeff also provides an online individual support service for parents of children and teenagers.
